After nearly two months of competition, VALORANT Champions Tour 2022 EMEA Stage 1 Challengers found its champion. The playoff period that hosted six teams and esports betting opportunities were over and FunPlus Phoenix took the prize home. Let’s check the details of the knockout stage of EMEA’s biggest tournament.
Lower Bracket Round 1
M3 Champions – G2 Esports
G2 Esports and M3 Champions met in the lower bracket for the first time in VCT 2022 EMEA Stage 1 Challengers. Unlike all the odds by VALORANT betting followers, G2 destroyed its strong opponent with clever strategies and brilliant individual performances. Winning the series 2-0, G2 Esports gained a lot of confidence after this.
Team Liquid – Guild Esports
Favorites got upset one by one in the lower bracket. After drawing all the attention with its flawless streak, Guild Esports couldn’t stop its downfall that started in the regular season. Team Liquid didn’t hesitate delivering the final blow to Guild and pushed it out of the playoffs with a 2-0 victory.
Lower Bracket Round 2
G2 Esports – Team Liquid
It was time for G2 to take revenge for the loss in round 1. This time, a better version of G2 was against Team Liquid and the team didn’t realize that in time. The victory over M3 Champions made G2 look completely different, a stronger one. Beating its opponent 13-4 in both maps, G2 surpassed Liquid and knocked it out of the playoffs.
Upper Bracket Final
Fnatic – FunPlus Phoenix
The competition between Fnatic and FunPlus Phoenix became the scene of the biggest surprise in EMEA VALORANT. While everybody was waiting for a close game, FunPlus Phoenix beat its rival 13-0 without its duelist player ardiis. This was an unexpected shock for everybody and Fnatic wasn’t able to get out of this. As a result, FPX ended the series with 2-0.
Lower Bracket Final
Fnatic had a sudden downfall in its performance versus FPX and the team couldn’t recover until the lower bracket final. G2 took advantage of this and dealt the final blow to their opponent, who was having a bad period. In the best-of-five series, G2 got three one-sided maps and advanced to the grand final of VCT 2022 EMEA Stage 1 Challengers.
FunPlus Phoenix – G2 Esports
Nobody expected these two teams to meet each other in the grand final. FPX has been a powerful contender for the trophy, but G2 Esports managed to convert a dream into reality with incredible performance. The European force tried to pursue this dream in the grand final, however the CIS powerhouse didn’t let this happen and won the series 3-1.
G2’s nukkye led the event with 1.23 rating and 258 ACS. Chronicle from M3 Champions followed him with 1.21 rating, while Turkish star cNed got the third place with 1.18 rating.
Due to the unfortunate events in Ukraine, FunPlus Phoenix won’t be able to attend Masters Reykjavik as Riot announced recently. Instead, Team Liquid will get the spot and represent EMEA at the international event. Also, G2 Esports and Fnatic will be the other teams to represent the region.
