IEM Katowice 2022 Rundown: Semifinals Have Ended

CS:GO’s one of the most prestigious events, IEM Katowice 2022, found its finalists after two breathtaking series. In the semifinals that were played in front of a live crowd, Europe’s representatives G2 Esports and FaZe Clan managed to surpass their opponents and made it through the grand finals. Let’s look at the details of both series.

Natus Vincere – G2 Esports

IEM Katowice 2022 offered many opportunities for those who were interested in CS:GO betting. However, predicting the winner of the series between Na’Vi and G2 Esports was a tough task for everybody.

The matchup that everyone was waiting for started on Inferno as G2 Esports’ first map choice. Beginning the map on the T side, the European force had a great first half in full swing. Despite Aleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev’s insane performance, Na’Vi wasn’t able to stop G2 to take the lead with 15-8.

When only one round was enough for G2 Esports to grab the first map point, the CIS representative won four rounds consecutively and initiated the comeback mode. But, G2 didn’t allow any miracle to happen and closed out Inferno with a 16-12 victory.

We headed to Mirage for the second map of the matchup. This was the last chance for Na’Vi to keep its grand finals dreams alive. However, G2 Esports was the side who started to the map like a wind. The European powerhouse instantly took and expanded the lead to 11-4.

Na’Vi became online in the second half. Putting 26 total kills, s1mple gave everything he had in the second half and brought the game to 12-12. But yet, G2 Esports took the map with a 16-13 and the series 2-0.

Heroic – FaZe Clan

Heroic and FaZe Clan faced each other in the second series of the day. Unlike the previous matchup, the front-runner was more obvious for this one. As expected, FaZe Clan took the lead as soon as the game started, thanks to an incredible performance by Helvijs “broky” Saukants. Finishing the map with a 1.64 rating, the Latvian player was the key for his team.

With the 13-5 lead, putting an end to the first map was a piece of cake for FaZe Clan. It won its own map pick, Inferno, 16-11.

The second map, Nuke, was the place where FaZe’s in-game leader Finn “karrigan” Andersen shined. Even though it was the map choice of Heroic, the Denmark-based team couldn’t show any presence. FaZe stepped up as a team, the whole roster finished the game with positive ratings and grabbed an easy triumph.
After taking the advantage in the first half with a 10-5, FaZe Clan didn’t give up any round afterwards and took the map 16-5 and the series 2-0, making its name in the grand final of IEM Katowice 2022.

The winner of IEM Katowice 2022 will be determined today with the grand final series between G2 Esports and FaZe Clan. If you’re planning to make a bet, I suggest you check our esports betting guides first. The grand final will start at 5 PM CET.
