LoL Esports Global Events Sign New Electronics Sponsor

The official League of Legends esports events already have a number of big-name sponsors – and now another joins their illustrious ranks! Speaker and headphone giant Bose just signed on as the official headset partner for all official global events in the League of Legends esport.

The first official appearance of Bose as a new sponsor will be the upcoming World Championship, where Bose will be providing headsets for all players. This trend will then continue through the MSI and All-Star events later this year.

Head of Global Brand and Marketing Activation at Bose, Pat Lacriox, commented on the new deal: “Bose is excited to enter the Esports space by supporting LoL Global Events and its competitors, while also introducing our first-ever gaming headset to the market. The relationship between Bose and Riot is a natural fit – both companies take pride in leading with technology and innovation and putting the customer first.”

The deal has fantastic timing – Bose just unveiled its first headset specifically created for gaming. While other brands like Razer and Logitech already have specific gaming-focused headsets, Bose just released their very first one – and it’s that model that will be used by players, camera talent, referees and even production crew at the WCS in Shanghai.

LoL Partner with Bose

“Bose has been an industry leader in audio technology and innovation for decades, and we’re thrilled to partner with them to both level up the pro player experience across LoL Esports and our global events while also providing an even richer audio connection to our fans,” said Naz Aletaha, the Head of Global Esports Partnerships & Business Development, Riot Games.

The future of sound

In addition to providing headsets for global events, Bose is also planning on launching a series of content pieces labelled ‘Sounds of The Game’. Where they explore the importance of sound and audio communication in League of Legends.

Despite the new association between Bose and Riot Games, Bose isn’t new to the esports world – they already previously acted as the headphone sponsors of Overwatch League team Boston Uprising and also co-sponsored the Madden NFL 19 Championship Series.

The LoL event headset

Though not created specifically for LoL Worlds, the SoundComm as it’s called was created specifically for gaming. Like other Bose headsets, it features innovative noise cancellation tech, and prioritises in-game sounds and communication between different players.

It’s also supposed to benefit referees, by allowing them to hear what’s happening and make decisive calls more easily. With a lot happening during a game, it can be difficult to make calls quickly – Bose’s SoundComm want to make that easier. That’s also why headphones will be made available not just to players, but also to a number of event staff at the tournaments that can benefit from them.
