MSI 2022 Group Stage is Over

The first phase of MSI 2022 has come to an end. After a total of 36 games that were played, the group stage is over. Even though the level of this year’s competition wasn’t so high, unlike last year, it provided some intense LoL betting opportunities anyway. In the end, six teams that finished their groups in the first two places qualified for the next phase of MSI 2022, which is the Rumble Stage.

Rumble Stage

The rules of the Rumble Stage are similar to the Group Stage. Teams here will play best-of-one matches against each other in a Double Round Robin format. Following the games, the top four teams will advance to the Knockout Stage, which is basically a playoff. Rumble Stage will last five days and start on Friday. Here are the teams that earned spots in the phase:

T1

MSI 2022 Group Stage is Over

As every esports betting followers expected, South Korea’s representative took their place in the second step of MSI 2022. After the perfect season in its respective region, T1 participated in the tournament as everyone’s favorite. And they showed why by not dropping a match in the group stage. The team easily beat every one of its opponents and qualified for the Rumble Stage.

Saigon Buffalo

Saigon Buffalo is the biggest surprise of MSI 2022. Normally, they shouldn’t be here. However, Vietnam’s champion GAM Esports decided to attend another tournament on the same date and the region sent its second-place team. Saigon Buffalo hadn’t been in an international tournament for a long time, but this didn’t stop them from qualifying for the next stage.

Royal Never Give Up

The Chinese team is playing in this tournament under different conditions. Due to the COVID-19 restrictions in China, RNG play their game remotely from their hometown with around 35 ms. The comfort of competing in the same place they used to gives the team a huge advantage. Additionally, they are one of the strongest teams on this occasion. As a result, RNG took first place in Group B with zero loss.

PSG Talon

Teams gave a hell of a fight for second place in Group B. Three teams that are close to each other in terms of strength managed to beat each other in different matches. In the end, PSG Talon survived with three victories and three losses. And they pushed RED Canids and Istanbul Wildcats out of the tournament.

G2 Esports

MSI 2022 Group Stage is Over

The European champion conquered Group C. Since CIS’ winner couldn’t attend the tournament, Group C hosted three teams: G2 Esports, Evil Geniuses and ORDER. Unlike the other groups, the teams played each other four times. This didn’t change anything as G2 Esports defeated their rivals in every single game. Finishing the group stage with an 8-0 record, G2 is coming hot to the next phase.

Evil Geniuses

Despite qualifying for the Rumble Stage, things didn’t look great for the North American representative. Evil Geniuses only won the games against Order, which is a weaker team, and lost every match versus G2 Esports. Considering the Rumble Stage will be harder, Evil Geniuses need to step up their performance. Otherwise, they might bid farewell to the tournament at this stage.
